Visto, mi permette solo di scartare tranquillamente il profilo sviluppatori, in quanto è per gli sviluppatori di Gentoo e non per gli sviluppatori in generale.

Non so darti una chiara spiegazione dei profili, però ti sarà facile capire quando capirai meglio linux.
Quindi hai dato:

Il carattere \, nei file di configurazione, serve per andare a capo! ;)

Oppure partire con quelle più o meno di default:

..ma è davvero poverello...

Scelte le USE, poi dai un:

per impostare la lingua italiana....

poi si parte con la configurazione kernel!

ps: capisci perchè per installare Gentoo ci vuole una settimana circa (aspetta che dobbiamo ancora iniziare per davvero ad emergere il sistema!)

...se non hai il bluetooth sul PC togli la USE "bluetooth".. ieri sera mi dev'essere sfuggita!

E se penso che tu non abbia nemmeno la ieee1394 (Enable FireWire/iLink IEEE1394 support (dv, camera, ...)) al PC. Quindi elimina la voce...

Impostiamo il fusorario:

verifica del link simbolico al kernel:

ci spostiamo in /usr/src/linux:

(sarà da qui che punterà il link simbolico, verso il sorgente kernel scaricato)

Ora ti dovrebbe apparire una schermata, nel terminale con bordo blu e interno grigio: quello è il tuo kernel!
Imposta le cose che ti servono, elimina le cose che per certo sai di non avere.... (ci sono 3/4 righe in alto che ti spiegano come muoverti e come "selezionare" "deselezionare" o rendere "modulo" una qualsiasi cosa)...nei miei Tips & Tricks avevo scritto qualcosa a riguardo.
Impostato tutto, secondo le tue necessità, fai "salva configurazione alternativa" e poi exit!
Poi dai un:

make && make modules_install
Per compilarlo e installarlo: ci vorrà del tempo!

Poi ricordati di copiare la tua immagine del kernel nella partizione /boot. Il comando sarà tipo:

cp arch/x86_64/boot/bzImage /boot/kernel-tua_versione_kernel
(nel link più sotto vedrai l'esempio concreto!)

Questa descritta sotto è la configurazione manuale!

è anche descritta l'alternativa "genkernel", una volta configurato è lui stesso che compila e installa...

Non eseguito.
L'handbook di Gentoo dice chiaramente:
Si sconsiglia di utilizzare i fusi orari del tipo /usr/share/zoneinfo/Etc/GMT* poichè i loro nomi non indicano le zone che ci si aspetterebbe.
Preferirei copiare l'indicazione da Salix, visto che sono sicuro che va bene.
Come eseguo?

e controlli, in un altro terminale se anche in salix usi CET facendo:

Dovrebbe venirti fuori una cosa del genere che ha sul fondo:
