It’s not a news that Intel Mobile products portfolio is stagnating, especially if we contemplate the latest CPU roadmap. So, this situation could be a huge opportunity for AMD to return in the game supplying Apple with its next coming “Zen” APUs, as we said some time ago.
Intel roadmap shows that the main uArch, up to 2Q18, will be Kaby Lake, and this means that the GPU will remain almost the same for about 3 years (Since Skylake commercialization): it’s a very long technology stop!
Taking advantage of Intel troubles, AMD could offer Apple a custom APU, based on Zen and GCN 4(or GCN 5), coupled with HBM2 memory, and with a TDP of 35-45W.
